It's been a while since we've posted, we've been busy working on the new Louis - Night Salad.
Here's a couple of events we're going to be doing at the National Library of Scotland this spring, as part of their series of events on graphic novels:

Talk/Panel Session: 'In conversation with metaphrog'.
Chaired by Lisa Otty, Graduate School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures, University of Edinburgh.

When: Wednesday April 23 - 7pm.
Where: National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EW.
Free admission

Workshop: 'Create your own comics' (for ages 8-12, places are limited).
When: Friday May 23 - 2.30 pm.
Where:
National Library of Scotland, George IV Bridge, Edinburgh EH1 1EW.

These events are held in conjuction with the exhibition Local Heroes - The Art of the Graphic Novel which will take place at the National Library of Scotland from April 4th until June 1st 2008.
Alan Grant and Cam Kennedy, Frank Quitely, Gary Erskine, David Donaldson, and Dr Mel Gibson will also be doing talks, while curator John Birch will give a guided tour of the exhibition. Go to the link above for more detail.

Here's a few pics from our recent trip to SPX. We had a fantastic time there, everyone made us feel extremely welcome. Many thanks again to the Scottish Arts Council who made the trip possible.

Adhouse were our neighbours at the show and proved to be great ones at that! Thanks Chris for the roots music cds!!

THE SPX ALBUM: interview compilation:

The SPX album is a really funny compilation of snapshot interviews of cartoonists and others during the 2002 SPX expo, weaved together with music, by Interview Records.
Interviewees include Scott McCloud, Sam Henderson, Bryan Talbot, Roger Langridge, Jason, Bob Fingerman, Jon Lewis, metaphrog and more...

' Recorded at the Small Press Expo in Bethesda Maryland in 2002.This album asks alternative comic book artists, writers and others involved in the industry about their very first comic book..Making comic books for the neighborhood and at the hair salon. Talk: Meeting with Metaphrog:
As part of the Six Cities Design Festival and the
'Biff! Bam!! Crikey!!!: Comics As Design and Entertainment' conference, metaphrog will be presenting their work and talking about the creative process applied to graphic novels.

When: FRIDAY 25th MAY, 3.00pm
Where: D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre,
Tower Building, University of Dundee, UK.

The Festival will celebrate the history of comics in Dundee and will celebrate the 70th anniversary of DC Thomson's The Dandy, as well as exploring comics as art, popular culture and design.
With stalls, exhibitions, and talks on comics by leading comics scholars and historians, including Paul Gravett, Roger Sabin, Chris Murray and more.

'Biff! Bam!! Crikey!!!: Comics As Design and Entertainment' conference:

Where: D'Arcy Thompson Lecture Theatre, Tower Building University of Dundee, Scotland.

Exhibition:
Original artwork from their Louis series will be exhibited, along with the work of Hunt Emerson, and of Lyall Bruce (of Sooper Double D), Victoria Baker and Stuart David Fallon, three Dundee based designers who have been selected to work on 'See New Worlds', a comic commissioned for the Festival to highlight Dundee's visual storytelling strengths and position within comic realms.

Louis - Lying to Clive on serializer.net:
Serializer.net, the critically acclaimed site for art comics on the web, is reassembling.
Louis - Lying to Clive will run for 19 weeks, updated every Tuesday from 24th October 2006.
Louis - Lying to Clive was originally self-published in print in 2001.

Louis - Red Letter Day, which was serialized on the site during 2003, will also still be available to read on serializer.net.

Other creators on serializer.net include Tom Hart, Nick Bertozzi, Jen Sorensen, Eric Milikin, Sam Henderson, Matt Feazell, Matt Bors and many more!

Louis short story in Variant:
Louis - The Round the World Rug Race
is published in Variant #27 winter 2006. The 12 page black and white short story
previously appeared in the US anthology "SPX 2003: a sequential arts travelogue".
Variant is a free UK newspaper for culture and the arts.

A Traveller's Tale:
The anthology Autobiographix (Dark Horse) is to be published in Spain and Italy by Ediciones Glenat and Kappa Edizioni respectively.
The anthology comprises short stories by Frank Miller, Will Eisner, Sergio Aragonés Eddie Campbell, Jason Lutes, Atan Sakai, metaphrog, and more.

An exhibition of original pages of art, comics and graphic novel work by Scotland based creators spanning from Electric Soup, including work by Shug, Dave Alexander, and early rarely seen Frank Quitely work; up until contemporary work by The Freedom Collective, Ben Simpson, the Northern Lightz team and Franco-Scottish duo metaphrog.
